Just after opening there is an explosion of berries that meets the nose: dark cherries, blackberries and some blueberries. Also liquorice and some cooling hints of eucalyptus. With air the berries are accompanied by some earthy tones, spices and meat. A nice and interesting nose. And not at all the warm and overripe fruit I sometimes find in Australian and other New World-wines. On the palate there's consentrated fruit, medium mouthfeel, surprisingly high acidity, lovely tannins and a pleasant fruity finish that maybe could have lasted a little longer. Overall great balance and a great wine at this price ($25).

Pale purple. Made in a biodynamic fashion this Shiraz has a touch of Mourvedre added. I would not have guessed that it was a Barossa shiraz, with its eucalyptus and forrest bark nose, then redcurrants and dark chocolate combining on the palate leading into a tangy and long finish.
