Deeply colored, still has hues of violet and just starting to show some bricking.
Aromas of cointreau, black licorice, burnt eraser, baking spice, blackberry compote, iodine, scorched earth.
Palate is balanced, just enough acidity to keep it fresh. Tannins are bold yet plush. I was honestly expecting some residual sugar from a Wagner family (Caymus) wine but much to my delight, this tastes dry.
Definitely should be served closer to cellar than room temp. Benefits from 1-2 hours of air and decant for sediment.
There are many better wines for the $50 price point that this was sold for at release, but this is still a very good bottle of wine and better than the rest of the Wagner portfolio in my opinion.

Non-vintage effort by Caymus, sounds like it was made around 2011. Still dark purple, subtle nose. Rich, velvety mouthfeel, nice flavors. Not typical Malbec flavors, I might have guessed Petite Syrah. But good! Has more time.

Inky and dark purple
Unctuous black fruits, blackberry, black cherry, licorice, molasses, and baking spices.
