(from 375 ml.) Deep golden yellow. Delicious rich BA, with smoked aromas of candied peach, acacia honey and lemon. Maybe lacks some acidity in the finish to be truly great and collectible, but still put's a big smile on my face!

opened and tasted 16 hours before serving, and then revisited 24 hours after opening
deep yellow color just starting to gold, blood oranges, marzipan, honeysuckle and lots of honey on a nose that still manages to be ethereal in its way, on the palate admirably deft but with a great honeyed impact, soft raisin notes, orange nectar, floral notes developing, length to burn, after 24 hours finally hitting its stride- intense notes of rose petal throughout the nose and palate, a bit of grapefruit coming into focus, mineral edges are present now as well and all beautifully rounded, a rich and intense wine- but always elegant and light on its feet. Drinking beautifully now but I think some additional development is yet to come, ***(**), now to 2055+

Dinner with Oliver Haag of Fritz Haag (Imperial Treasure Super Peking Duck, Paragon): Wow. What a way to end a great evening. Even Oliver Haag was quite surprised when this was unveiled. Intriguing nose. I got really distinct smells of aged pu-er tea, along with floral jasmine notes, some rubber hints and rather tightly buried fruit. Quite lovely even at this age. The palate was a revelation. Tons of botrytis, and yet there was gorgeous acidity, so that the rich, almost oily texture of the wine just glided across the palate. The flavours on the wine were beautifully layered, with dried apricots, some pineapples and lots of buried complxity hidden away in the depths of the wine. Oh so young! Yet already brilliant. Lovely on the finish too, with Philipino dried mangoes galore and more flowers. Thanks Chad! A wonderful wine. Can only imagine how good this would be with a couple of decades under its belt.

(Fritz Haag Brauneberger Juffer-Sonnenuhr Beerenauslese) The purest fruit of any BA of the trip. Like sucking perfectly ripe Riesling off the vine. So elegant with vivid pink grapefruit flavors. Genius stuff. Long finish. Will last a lifetime.

Clos des Réas / Pontet-Canet tasting-cum-lunch (Restaurant Bak, Amsterdam, NL): Half bottle. Waxy, delicately sweet, maracuja, peach and apricot, beautifully balanced and elegant, peach and cold tea, long and delicious, very elegant but lacks some acidity on the finish.
