  • Honestly don’t know the vintage faint aromas of oak chips and black currant Medium-full bodied, this is round and mouth filling but very low on tannin and extremely low in acid. I’ve had worse, but rarely. Actually MUCH less offensive than a glass of Meiomi that was my only choice at an alumni dinner last year 82.

  • Tasted blindfolded. On the nose it immediately screams grocery store cab. Fruity to jammy plums, cherries, a bit of green pepper, cedar, and generic oak spices. Medium-heavy bodied, nice medium-high bright acidity, and a bit dusty. Fruity palate of plums, cherries, a bit of raspberry, cedar, and an array of oak spices. After a few sips, I start noticing green bell pepper. Medium dusty tannins bring in a bit of pencil shavings and graphite. Medium-long finish with a hit of bright cherries followed by graphite and black-pepper dominated oak spices.

I have a feeling we have a grocery store cab in the glass. Overall this is good wine, but lacks the depth higher end cabs have. My guess it is somewhere around $8-12 bucks for the bottle.

Blindfold off – the wine is dark purple. As I sip on it more, the worst thing I can about this wine is the lack of depth.

The reveal: Sutter Home Cab Sauv. $4.49 a bottle at Safeway. Honestly, this is yet another shock on the cheap wine spectrum for me and proves that you need to taste these wines blind to fairly review them

  • Ok. If you want to buy for a party, it's pretty reasonable.
