At the price this wine represents an excellent value and an opportunity to sample the wine-making of one of the major producers. It won't leave you speechless but it has clean, steely, mouth-wateringly tart qualities. Sadly, Binny's now fresh out.

I was interested to try this Qualitatswein from a good producer. The label has that stripped down feel designed for the foreign market. It is clean and steely, a light pale green-yellow, predominantly citrus, with a hint of a sherbet finish which I take, rightly or wrongly to be the added sugar. A little one-dimensional compared with the fabulously complex products of the more famous vineyards around here but it compares very favourably with similarly priced New World Rieslings and has a lot more style.

This wine shows a particular minerality unique to the German regions of its origin. Moderately crisp, stone fruit flavors, subtle hint of pineapple and grapefruit with a medium-to-long finish. Very easy drinking. Will buy again.

A very crisp, precise, focussed nose. Ripe, clean palate. Very Good+.
