Purchased at a market across the street from my hotel on Palo Alto. A medium ruby in the glass, the nose initially was of cherry, greenies and cedar. Dry, very acidic with a greeny metallic taste on the palate; not at all a fruit bomb. However, began to change after 90 minutes open, the acidity balancing and the mean greenies relenting. The next day, big change. Both the greenies and the metallic notes are resolved, the fruit becoming more clear as as well as the cedar. A well structured, well-balanced Aussie shiraz, who would have thought? Excellent QPR at the $11.99 I bought this at. If you have these, open for a quick taste, recap, leave overnight, and be rewarded the next day.

Actually, I hate to say it, I'm kinda proud of this little guy. Nine hours in it kept getting better and better and more complex - always that core of pure Aussie fruit but with smoke and spice and layers. I stuck it in a Burgundy Zalto and it managed to hold its own!

Rather brilliant black fruit on the nose, spice, but more covered over by blue and black fruits, supple and delicious. Easy does it.

Not bad for an $8 Shiraz. Good party wine or Wednesday night bottle.
