  On opening, this wine tasted like a horribly overdone California fruit bomb. Some of the fruit has blown off after 2 hours in the decanter, but it still seems, from my recollection, to be a far cry from the balanced, complex and sophisticated 2010 Royale. This is a monotone of deep ripe fruit with no backbone, and a pervasive sweetness that totally turns me off, although I will say the sweetness is dissipating during the course of the decant (or my palette is accommodating). Think I'll cork it and try again tomorrow, hoping for improvement with continued air. 81 on opening, 85 after a 2 hour decant.

  I really liked this. It's full bodied but very bright on the tongue. The cab franc (17%) adds a very nice nose. I recommend further aging and definitely decant.
