Initially, this syrah showed soft fruit, vanilla, and distinct oak. After about 30 minutes, some darker cherry and a layer of smoke and earth appeared as the depth of this wine evolved. Very nice.

Monday Night Blinds (Home (Noe st)): (blind) Opaque ruby-purple. Intense nose of ripe blackberry liqueur, slightly dirty purple grape fruit, sweet black cherry with vanilla, cherry cola, sweet vanilla and toast (significant new oak). There's a tart cherry as well. Dry with a ripe attack - possible RS. Slightly reductive - Full bodied - High alcohol - 15%. - elevated acid (acidified) - elevated tannins - pronounced bitterness Intense fruit.
Aussie shiraz - CA Merlot - CA Cab - Amarone - could be, but I'd expect higher acid and more raisination Argentine malbec - Zinfandel - too much oak and too tannic and too dark in color.
Final call, based on structure and oak: CA Cab 2013
Actually 2013 Alexander Valley Syrah (14.9%) Dutcher Crossing 2013 Hidden Hill Vineyard Alexander Valley

Deductive Tasting (Blind) (Rajiv's House, San Francisco): Deep ruby to ruby-purple color; aromatic, plummy, raisins, slight VA; palate is full bodied, ripe black fruit, medium-plus acid, slightly sweet; medium length finish. Amarone, possibly ripe zinfandel? 87-88
