Popped and poured. In terrific shape. White flower, tropical fruit on the nose. The palate is fully of energy and shows great poise and focus. Orchard and tropical fruit, crushed rocks, a touch of oak. Nice finish. Still has a lot of life ahead.

Had a bit of reservations about the Clos des Quarts’ aging potential as the previous bottle had a touch of oxidation but this was much fresher - down to bottle variation perhaps. Anyway similarly a lean style as befits the vintage. Good concentration though.

Popped and poured. In excellent shape. Medium to full bodied. Fleshy orchard fruit, some tropical notes, minerals come through. Excellent depth and balance for a Macon wine. At early maturity but should be able to maintain for at least five years.

Ch des Quarts is a collab between Dominique Lafon and Olivier Merlin, although it seems the latter is doing the heavy lifting which makes sense. The eponymous Clos is a purely East-facing monopole and made in a style quite unlike the fat and rich Pouilly-Fuisse one may expect. Perhaps a cross between a Côte d’Or white on the nose with the mineral, steely austerity of a Chablis on the palate. No doubt a product of the vintage and a conscious desire to harvest earlier and deliver a clean, precise style. This is still rather reticent and needs more time.
