  • Aromas of green melon, white peaches, lime, white flowers riding over a bed of slate with just a touch of petrol. Very Mosel-like in its delicacy. Good acidity to balance the RS, but it seemed to be a bit hollow on the mid-palate, but then it picks back up with a minerally finish. I read somewhere that Piesport was hit by some hail in 2004 and I wonder if this could be the reason for the lacking mid-palate. Overall though, quite good.

  • A pleasant, if relatively simple, spatlese. Grapefruit and white floral notes on the nose, joined by nectarine on the palate. The subtle zesty acids disappeared as it lost its chill in the glass, making the wine seem flabbier. Nice, but not a standout.
