  • Not as good as other bottles I've had which were silky but poised Syrah loaded with fruit but not exceedingly ripe or our of shape (the alcohol is ~13%). This bottle was just a bit clumsy with a perception of wood that one can sometimes get in Syrah even if it isn't there. FWIW, Steph liked it more than I did.

  • Another local wine store find - we really have great stores in Brooklyn. I have read about Hobo and Ghostwriter but have never had the pleasure of drinking either. This is fresh and authentic and quite like a Crozes-Hermitage - as BC below said. Nice wine, very well made. Lifted and savory and vraiment Syrah. There are some lovely sprightly bright fruits and potpourri and a decidedly citric edge. It finishes just a little short, but that's a minor quibble. With air it becomes spicier, more encompassing and generous, a tiny sense of sugary red fruit. Nice work.

  • So the idea was the grower couldn;t sell the fruit and a bargain was struck - give me the Pinot and then next vintage we graft over the syrah to CHenin. Yet maybe, just maybe, the syrah works it out.

Really bright purple and fresh like a really good Croze, but better. Very fresh, but has some mid palate weight that doesnt make it to esoteric.
