Fantastic example of New World Sauvignon Blanc (if that isn't too patronising!).
Whilst it doesn't quite express in the buzzword of the moment 'minerality' (say as you would expect in the Loire) what it does have is bags of not-too-overdone fruit and character. Lovely SB nose of gooseberry and a certain citrusness, with some tropical notes. My partner picked up some cat pee, although having never owned a cat I'm afraid its not something my olfactory glands know!
A perfect accompaniment to smoked salmon, with refreshing acidity and good full bodied mouthfeel - yet none-too-cloying, else it may well have clashed with the slightly greasy salmon.
I have little knowledge of Marlborough SB, but on this showing I'll make a beeline more often to those bottles.
