  • Full of ripe peachy fruit lifted by good acids underneath with a faint petrol note emerging with an hour of air, but right now it's not particularly interesting and for the most part a one-note wine without much complexity or anything besides a lot of baby fat. That said, it's still quite pleasant and easy to drink with a polished, glossy texture and enough sweetness and acidity to make it a nice foil for Asian food.

  • This tastes younger now than it did 4 years ago. It's a bit simple in its presentaiton, but a lot of that is the sheer baby fat that is still hanging on this wine. An hour plus of air starts to reveal petrol and a creamy edge that adds complexity, but in general it is still way too young for prime drinking.

  • This has settled down slightly from its boisterous youth, and the acidity is striking. There’s lots of peach and tropical fruit flavors, but the acids make this auslese taste like auslese halbtrocken. Gosh this will be fantastic food wine some day. Or have some fiery Asian cuisine & it will be fantastic food wine today! This and the Kerpen once again make the statement that auslese is a food wine. Neither one is too sweet to have with dinner, especially given the amount of sugar & spice (and everything nice?) that shows up in dishes these days.
