Some extra time in bottle really did this wine well. Edges have softened and tannins are mellow and sweet. Blackberry jam with a bit of violet and toasty oak and a slightly spicy finish. Similar flavors on the palate with medium acidity, smooth mouthfeel. Not sure this will ever develop complex tertiary notes but it's a very enjoyable wine at this moment, with or without food.

End of night sipping wine. Dark purple color. Nose of ripe black and blue fruits, hint of violet and a bit of toasty oak. Similar flavors on the palate with dark, slightly jammy fruit, a touch of black pepper and a bit of sweet oak. Medium acid, medium+ tannin and body. Tasty syrah but very primary at this point so lacking a bit of character. Will hold remaining bottle for a few more years.

Dark, very dark, with a big earthy aroma. Taste was also, typical of the varietal, very big. Full bodied with lots of dark, jammy fruit with spice on the backend. I'm NOT a Syrah expert, but I thought this was pretty darn good. To be fair, in the spirit of transparency, I'm a huge SG and Stagecoach Vineyard fan as well.
A nice 89 Pointer, but only a Good QPR for the price paid.
