Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • WSET Diploma Practice Tasting - Guess the Region (London): The wine is clear and medium ruby in colour.
The nose is clean with medium (+) intensity aromas of red and black fruit (red cherry, red plum, black cherry), spice (liquorice), oak (clove, smoke), tertiary development (game, forest floor). The wine is developing.
The palate is dry with medium (+) acidity, medium (+) tannins, ripe and silky, high alcohol, medium (+) body, medium (+) intensity flavours of red cherry, red plum, liquorice, smoke, game, spice. The finish is long.
The wine is very good quality. The acid and tannin structure balance the fruit, which is quite concentrated. The alcohol is high but well integrated. There is some complexity and the finish is long. It lacks some concentration and complexity to be outstanding.
The wine can be drunk now but it suitable for further ageing. It has the concentration of fruit and the structure needed to develop further tertiary flavours.
