  • Bbell’s note sums up my impression nicely.

  • This is why you buy Ganevat...among the middling efforts are some really interesting ideas that come to fruition. I love the green chardonnay steminess with the body and moderate sweetness of the riesling here. This could certainly crash into the guardrail in the future but right now it is a fascinating study in the underlying grapes.

  • A blend of Chardonnay (70%) from Jura and Mâconnais, Burgundy and Riesling (30%) from Alsace. Co-fermented spontaneously in 500-liter oak vats, aged for 12 months in old French oak demi-muids (600 liters). No fining, no filtration, no SO2. 13,5% alcohol, tasted blind. Lot 14.10.

Pale lemon yellow color. Attractive and characterful nose with complex aromas of sweet creaminess, some beeswax and honey, a little bit of apricots, a hint of apple purée and a touch of perfumed floral tones. The wine is dry, broad and round, yet still quite crisp and pretty acid-driven on the palate with medium-to-moderately full body and vibrant flavors of fresh apples, some ripe citrus fruits, a little bit of saline minerality and vague hints of creaminess and waxiness. High acidity. The finish is crisp, lively and lighter than the midpalate with rather long and pretty savory flavors of stony minerality, lemony citrus fruits, some ripe apples and a hint of saline minerality.

A very nice and fascinating wine that was pretty easy to locate to France, but quite impossible to pinpoint anywhere beyond that. It makes more sense now, seeing how it was actually a blend of three different regions! Of course it was pretty much an "ouillé" Jura Chardonnay in style, but that addition of Riesling certainly made itself known, even though you never really thought of Riesling - it just gives the wine a lovely floral undertone, nuances of beeswax and a noticeable boost to the mineral department. Not really an intellectually engaging wine, but instead more of a smashable glou-glou-wine of the highest degree. A perfect allrounder to be drunk with a wide variety of dishes or just by itself. A terrific effort.

  • GMs - Kevin Farewell @ GC: Light gold colour. Apricot, straw, herbal notes as well. Nicely balanced, with a quite lean profile, more Riesling than Chardonnay styled. Medium length, a nice wine to drink but not one I feel like I need to revisit.

  • Usvovlet. Svært utviklet farge. Det er på grensen oksidert med lukt av nedfallsfrukt, brune epleskrotter og nøtter. Men det er også en frisk sitrusfrukt under her i munnen og den har en noe rikere frukt i finish. Litt kort avslutning. Drikk nå.
