Fantastic flagship wine from Salvestrin. A little spice with the traditional east St. Helena/Dr. Crane fruit. Smooth tannins after its time in the bottle and this was singing! Wish I had another bottle.

Inky violet. Nose of plum, mineral, allspice. Big, modern, and oaky on the palate, cooked black fruit and vanilla, with a long, spicy, velvety finish. The 14.8% heat is noticeable but seems appropriate for the style. A little difficult to score in that it's not really to my personal taste (I love the musty old world stuff), but the craft is pretty unimpeachable, and it was a really lovely bottle to share along with a wild mushroom risotto.

Served side by side with a 2013 Hall Exzellenz at a Smile Network wine event. Most of the 8 participates preferred the Salvestrin over the Parker 100 pointer.

At Salvestrin on 20SEP17: A worthy flagship for the Salvestrin line; spicy and a bit of tobacco on the nose, followed up with the same and silky fruit on the palate. A bit high acid, which should help it age well. 94

Dark fruit and baking spices on the palate. This could have some legs. Hold my remaining bottles.
