Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • One of the advantages of the new grape varieties is that you do not have to be a connoisseur to appreciate them. Huxelrebe is such a variety, especially in the spätlese and higher ratings. Although this wine is much too young to show the specific muscat-like aromas of the grape it still gives a nice peek of what to expect.

The color is pale yellow, and like the nose still hardly developed. The first impression is reminiscent of dry coconut flakes, slightly minerally and above all fresh grapes. The flavor has all the same elements and is very digestible with only 8.5% alcohol.

In the next ten years this will flesh out in bottle, gain color and produce that delicious muscat-like taste that will be kept in balance by the high acid. I can't hardly wait for that moment to come.

In the meantime I'll enjoy this bottle and the sunset knowing that I have still some bottles luring in a dark corner for the years to come. Santé
