Deep ruby. Pronounced aromas of redcurrant, plum, raspberry, vanilla, cedar, cloves, chocolate, coffee, hazelnut, mushroom, licquorice, tar. Medium+ acidity, med+ smooth integrated tannins. Long finish. This is outstanding. And potential to improve further.

Smoke, licorice, flowers, chocolate, and dark red pit fruits form the core of this wine. On the palate, the wine is silky, fresh, and creamy, with layers of black cherries, chocolate, and truffles on the mid-palate and in the finish. This was good, before, and now, with a few more years in the cellar, it is even better! Drink from 2023-2040.

2015 Château Feytit-Clinet was rich, nuanced and sophisticated. The developing Pomerol was deep ruby in colour with traces of fine sediments. Aromas of black plum, blackberry and violet were accompanied by dark chocolate, tobacco, rust and a touch of baking spices. It kept improving over five hours of gradual in-bottle aeration.
The mouthfeel was dry and full-bodied, with a medium level of acidity and a high level of plush tannin. Flavours of cassis and spring flowers transitioned to chocolate cake, black tea and earth in a long, refined finish. It exceeded my expectations by a wide margin as an accessible, mid-range Pomerol. It would improve over a decade of cellaring. The empty bottle weighed 595 grams. The 14.5% alcohol, which was typical of Merlot-based red from the hot and dry 2015 vintage, was well-integrated.
Château Feytit-Clinet is the neighbour of the better-known Château Clinet and Clos L’Église. A Cantonese-speaking wine friend joked that it was Clinet with rusted scarp steel. There is probably some truth to it, not least because it is usually more affordable than Clinet. Merlot on clay occasionally gives off notes of blood and rusted iron in an enhancing fashion. In the 2015 vintage, the blend is composed of 94% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc. The wine is raised in 70% new and 30% second-fill French oak barrels for fifteen months.

Similar to last bottle, the last glass was a standout; likely needs a couple hours of decanting to show its best.

Nice combination of power with some finesse. Has dark, smoky notes. The last glass was particularly inviting. Needs more time.
