  • A big and beautiful pinot that is also elegant. Great nose. Layered mid pallette. Good pure fruit but not overdone. Nice lingering finish. In a great window with probably another year + in the prime zone. Yum

  • Not as fruit forward or candy as other Lynmar PN. Maybe it’s the age or Susanna’s vineyard produces a mellower wine. Christine has notes or cinnamon.

  • Feeling more positively about this wine the second time around. I still didn't decant--I didn't re-re-read my TN until after I poured my first glass--but did keep the cork out for several hours on the first night, and as both of the prior writers noted, air and time really helps this wine. Also, this time I paired this with pork tenderloin in a red wine-tomato sauce, and it worked much better than salmon. This wine is extraordinarily plush; I'm not sure I could blindly identify this as a PN, and as a PN, it's not something I'd want to drink all the time, as I generally prefer pinots which can pair with lighter foods, which I eat more frequently. But this is really good at what it is, and it may have a chance to get better. 92+

  • From my large Lynmar stash. Opened about 15 minutes before consuming. Nose of strawberry, cherry and savory elements. On the palate, first impression is that everything is a bit too big: the fruit, the alcohol, the tannins and the acidity. Also present are notes of earth, dried spices and pepper (well captured in winegold's tasting notes). Very dark, full-bodied, thick legs. After about an hour on glass 2, the wine balances out much better and overall has as much of a feeling of a Northern Rhone as a RRV pinot with customary baking spice notes. Decent complement for seared salmon, but again, perhaps a bit big. Similar tasting notes on night 2, although with perhaps just a touch of sweetness and maybe less of the pepper and savory notes. I think that this is the relatively rare CA pinot that, IMO, may benefit from decanting and/or a bit more bottle age, has the potential to get up to a 92-93.

  • Lovely and lovelier the longer it sits.
