Our final bottle from an excellent vintage. Still fresh and young, a hint of dirt or smoke in the nose and dirt flavors surrounded by violet and crushed strawberries. An excellent example of what Sonoma can do with Cab in a great year. Take that Napa.

Cork split horizontally across the middle when I pulled it. My first sip was TCA polluted but subsequent sips were okay. I think it came from the small hunks of cork that got in the wine when I had to push the bottom half into the bottle. After I dealt with cork chips, the nose started to come out, berry, dirt and a little alcohol. The wine still very red and fresh, no bricking. '97 Cabs continue to disappoint but this one is actually pretty good. Pretty stong tannin but not overwhelming, tar, red berries, maybe a little heat, cola in the finish which lasts a good minute. For a Sonoma Cab, Sebastiani did a hell of a job. Go Aggies.

Nose is muted, maybe a little green fruit and a hint of dirt (reminiscent of Rutherford). Fine tannins with raspberry and cocoa and a pretty good finish (one minute). Ready to rock, will probably not get any better.
