Don't you love it when age works to improve a wine. This is opulent and rich, like a heavy pinot. The alcohol heat is integrated now with a full on syrupy cherry cola palate. Delicious.

Light to medium crimson red with traces of purple. Limited viscosity. Smokey, earthy nose with rose water, dried rosemary, vanilla, licorice and raspberry. A medium bodied, ripe, black fruited palate, with an edge of ruby grapefruit, followed by pronounced oak. Ends with a hit of heat from the alcohol, plus firm drying tannins. Put it down for a few more years. Would have been better if not for the oak and heat which are both a little overdone.

Hmmm, still attempting to get into this one. Quite light bodied for something so high in alcohol. It comes with a strong cherry palate, some nice well handled oak in there, but quite an acidic/alcoholic finish. Overall not sure I particularly like this.

Popped and poured with the help of my little aerator. Made from 80 years old gnarly old vines, this Grenache in appearance is a light, slightly dirty, ruby. Rustic, meaty, a little gamey upfront, dark red cherries, white pepper all predominant. Medium bodied, sweet, oak, cherries again and dry and savoury upfront. Quite a good little finish, the oak will burn off over time. Probably drunk 18 months too early. Will hold a few years easily, drink by 2023
