Tired and unexciting. Little fruit but neither any tertiaries. Structure is there but little nose to speak of - some red fruit, a bit of undergrowth, lots of herbal notes.

Ok but didn’t wow. Not particularly complex. Had with thanksgiving dinner so I was admittedly distracted. But wouldn’t fall over myself to get more of this.

Tasted at McCarthy & Schiering event 2/2018. I'm not adding a rating because I'm not a Burg expert and my impressions were so much more positive of this cuvee than tasting notes in CT, and even some at the tasting (the guy next to me grumbled about the Chauvenet 14s being "sour"). That said, I found this to be muscular and satisfying, with plenty acid but lots of fruit to back it up. Loaded with tannins. I could drink this with a steak right now and be happy, though I think it needs a few years to settle down. I did note that with this cuvee, the tasting notes tend to be most positive within 3-5 years of the vintage so this might be one to drink young. Anyway, I thought it was pretty awesome and light years away from new-world pinots which I tend to find either whiny and anemic or tasting like grape candy. If I WERE to give it a numerical rating it would be 92.

Keep this stored for 3-5 years... not worth while drinking yet

Quick trade tasting note - darker fruit, green notes, a bit austere, stems with plus tanning showing young.
