2019 Visit to North Canterbury, NZ: A bouquet of cinnamon and other baking spices, lemon zest and green apple with steely, mineral nuances along with other warmer, richer elements. In the mouth, what you hope for from the second tier of a top grower – open and accessible. Rich and full without being overblown. Balanced and underpinned by vibrant acidity. Very much enjoyed on the night.

Nose of whipped cream, grass, lime and seashore. On the palate citrus galore mixed with som green apples. Has softened some and feels quite generous, even if it is still in the acid-driven, elegant style. Long, salty-citrus finish. Good stuff!

Chalky yet balanced with candied lemon fruits, white flowers on the nose. On the palate, it was nicely balanced with generous fruits and good acidity, light candied green apples, lemon peel and ginger, bubbles were thin yet energetic, finish was grippy and round. Very enjoyable. I think its drinking window is earlier than Chetillon (i.e Chetillon requires more time). Drank it over two days, the wine evolved nicely with time. L'Esprit Grand Cru is Blanc de Blancs Brut 100% Chardonnay from the crus Le Mesnil, Oger, Avize and Cramant.

2016-06-14 Disg. Wow. Vanilla, almond, kaffir lime, soft cream. On the palate: fantastic acidity, lime, soft vanilla, grapefruit, lovely density, soft mousse, tangy finish. Absolutely gorgeous.
