  • Luminous neon green color with a concentrated honey-yellow hue subtly betraying the age of the wine. Ripe and beautifully developed nose with complex aromas of wizened stone fruits, perfumed wild flowers and apple blossoms, some beeswax, a little bit of petrol and an aged Riesling hint of raw potato. The wine is light-to-medium-bodied, developed and somewhat oily on the palate with complex flavors of acacia honey, perfumed floral tones, steely minerality, ripe red apples, some zesty citrus fruits, a little bit of chalky bitterness, a hint of slightly dried peach and a touch of mushroomy earthiness. The wine is quite racy with high acidity. The finish is steely and developed with quite long and complex flavors of ripe red apples, some dried peaches, a little bit of beeswax and a hint of petrol.

A very beautifully aged and hands-down delicious Riesling that is in a really wonderful phase right now. Although technically dry, the developed flavors in the wine have started to taste even somewhat sweet with nuanced notes of honey and dried stone fruits, almost giving the wine a dessert wine-like quality. Most likely the wine will keep for years to come and perhaps even develop from here, but I really don't see any point in aging this further - this is just spectacular right now. No matter what wines from Diel I drink, they always seem to be in a class of their own. A truly great house. And this wine was a steal at only 20€.
