Lovely wine for those who enjoy their reds, whether Cab Franc or not, on the lighter intellectual side. Massively benefits from time in decanter to let the subtle aromas and flavors unfurl. The prior review to mine from Vintage_Whine nails the flavor descriptors I experienced, but without the negatives. Guidance is to enjoy this well-decanted with the expectation of, and accompanying food for, an elegant lightweight red.

Opened 6 hours ahead of dinner and twice double decanter. At first muted and thin. Just generic. But come dinner time, fantastic purity, sasparilla bark, red raspberry, graphite and fresh red roses. Powerful on the nose but the palate is another story. Acid, thin, tastes almost like green apples, even though I know it’s been through full ML. It’s definitely an extreme style, and borders on more interesting than pleasurable. All this to say it’s severely underripe. 11.5% abv

Hmm, this is an anonymous and thin cab franc at this stage…perhaps the guiberteau wines are better for early consumption as I remembered a bit more liveliness upon release.

Red apple, elegance and bell pepper. Outstanding acidity and very little development. Lean and thinner on palate

very subtle and elegant wine, not too much greenish notes, lightweight but with quite some complexity, slighlty aged on the nose
