Community Tasting Notes (1)

  • (Vin Italy, 2016) Always a joy to drink this wine, even more so in this vintage. From pre-phylloxera vines 100+ yrs old on the NE side of Etna mountain. Complexity that the soil (850m), vine age and diurnal swings bring to this is striking. An explosive nose of minerals and citrus does not initially comport with the very light straw color - so much vibrancy from such a nearly pale colored wine (I admit, at this point I'm already sold). After a minute of swirling and warming, the wine's already added a touch of weight, the aromas become even broader, but there's this tension on the palate that I just can't ignore. So much fruit in such a modest-looking package with brilliant cut and energy. To be sure though, this is for AFWE only. 13,5% abv. highly recommended

Served non-blind; I want all of them.
