  • A complete surprise. Côtes de Gascogne are usually "products" rather than wines, all tasting much like the market leader, Tariquet: exotic fruit flavours on a dry base. They are designed for early drinking and make great apéritifs.
This is something else entirely, a wine that continues to improve with age, gaining in complexity as it does. The nose is full of promise, with white peach and citrus, into an attack of the same, but then into a middle section of butterscotch and quince, before a long, lingering honey finish, with a touch of honey-dew melon.
Reminiscent of a top Vouvray...but it cost a mere 4 euros.
