Bronze/gold colour. The oak is very prominent, both on the nose and on the palate, to the exclusion of any real fruit. Some nutmeg and butterscotch detected on the palate. It's not typical of other chardonnays. Generally disappointing.

Tasted at the winery. Good freshness with this 100% Chardonnay, well managed oak treatment (used French oak barrels), good balance and a generally one of the better whites from the chianti area.

Felsina winery tasting (Felsina Winery, Berardegna): 100% Chardonnay; 12 months ageid in used french barrique, transparent shiny golden yellow; fine elegant perfumed white peach nose with light buttery notes and subtle oak-vanilla hints, medium bodied, good acidity level, ripe peach flavours, round, mouth filling, quality finish of good wine for food, dominant long at=ftertaste

Less ripe compared to Isole e Olena's 2014 Chardonnay tasted alongside. Floral, very aromatic, spicy with citrus fruit and yellow stone fruit notes, slightly mineral and fresh. Very good. 89-91

Phew. Wood wood wood. Completely overoaked without discernible fruit. Not sure if this will ever come together... Not good
