Deep ruby. Resiny wood tones and dark fruit. Medium weight, astringent oak foundation, black>red fruit, excellent acidity, chocolaty tannic finish. Not as open and ready as a bottle last year, but that had gotten more air. Too much wood to my taste but an impressively constituted village wine if somewhat burly for the appellation. Hard to believe that this is still so coiled at 17 years of age, but that's 2005.

Good dark crimson red in color. Beautiful nose of dark red berries, dried florals, brown spices and hint of forest floor. Medium bodied palate shows silky crushed red berries, hoisin sauce, good acidity and mid palate sap and a floral finish. This is very true to the appellation.

A Tasting of Chambolle-Musigny Village Wines from the 2005 Vintage (San Francisco): Even ruby. Fragrant and quite floral. Medium weight, lots of soil. Smoke, savory dark red fruit, herb, and excellent acidity with a citric lift. Full of life and drinking wonderfully now. This was almost unanimously the favorite wine of the flight and a great surprise.

Ruby throughout. Strong aromas of oak outstrip the dark red fruit at this point. Fairly hefty, dense Chambolle. Nice mix of black cherry and earth, but it is missing the tanginess and lightness of the best wines of the appellation. That said, it is at an inviting stage, open and only gently tannic. The wood returns at the end to make the finish green and slightly astringent.
We forgot about this for 2 days and were surprised and pleased to find that the wood had calmed down and some fresh strawberry emerged. This gives definite hope for further resolution and improvement.

Absolutely delicious. Beautiful nose of light red fruit and blue fruit. The palate is full of blueberries and spice.
