I like this vintage in alsace, this pinot gris has a very good balance of ripeness and acidity, which I find lacking in the 2009s that I have tried from alsace (which have all been a little short on acidity and long on ripeness), great QPR as I bought these on sale for $35 NZD ($25usd). Great value Grand Cru Pinot Gris

Intense youthful grassy green color. Ripe but also rather straightforward nose with aromas of juicy pear, ripe red apples and some vague spicy character. The wine is full-bodied, medium-sweet and quite oily on the palate, but there's also a lovely streak of acidity that lends great sense of lightness and harmony to the wine. Flavors of sweet apple purée, stony minerality, some Moroccan spices, a little bit of honeydew melon and a hint of smoke. Overall the wine comes across nicely structured and balanced for such a sweet wine - apparently a hallmark of 2010 vintage. The finish is mineral, off-dry and pretty lengthy with intense flavors of sweet golden apples, some juicy pear, a little bit of honeydew melon and a hint of spicy touch.
A tremendously attractive and delicious Pinot Gris that's obviously on the sweeter end of white wine spectrum (i.e. not dessert wine) but carrying its residual sugar with remarkable grace. Delicious and still very youthful now, I can see this getting only better for the next 6-10 years. Terrific stuff if you are not averse to residual sugar, highly recommended.
