The nose smells of chocolate and berries. You smell the tannins and sweetness as if it's a port even before trying a sip. This is a wonderful complex wine. I let it aerate in the decanter for a few hours which takes off the edge. If you don't mind a dry finish try it right out of the bottle. The fun part of the wine is the "wine suds" it's like sparkling red wine. Australia is know for their sparkling Shiraz. Just wish it wasn't such a dry finish.
