From the notes below I was really afraid this would be over the hill or uninteresting but it was quite good, a stony mineral cherry lemonade with licorice and a touch of garrigue. Structure on the light side but a pretty fresh drink especially a little chilled.

Nose of red berries, white/black pepper, rocky stream in a forest with crisp moist air. There is still a decent tannic structure, drying out my pallet and front of the tongue. Red berries come through again with that pepper spice and good bit of minerals. It’s quite tasty.

Drink up. While never my favorite wine from Pfifferling, it's arguably his best bang for the buck in its direct and maybe too-obvious charms, and those are fading fast. The tart cherry juice is still there, but the intensity is flagging and revealing more of the licorice and dried flowers than are welcome here. Not unenjoyable, and the nose was more complex and interesting than when younger, but that's not because it hadn't opened up yet, believe me. Fine with some Russian meat pies.

Drinking this now and liking it a lot more than the previous CT reviewers. But I'm a fan of the style and the winemaking, so....crushed rocks, gravely, crunchy red fruit with pepper tones and spicy finish. Bright fruit coupled with an earthy-edginess. Kind of red wine you can drink slightly chilled on a hot and humid night. Poundable wine. That will probably age a bit, but who cares, these will be drained.

Very good. Precise and fresh. Dark cherries. No funk. A little alcoholic though.
