Agree with my score from a year ago on this bottle. Toast / brioche is the most prominent flavor this time around. Agree with honeydew melon note from a year ago. Delicious.

White Rhone & Other Blends (Luddite Cellars): Deep gold with yellow edges Classic cordite and struck match on the nose with some quarry dust. The entry is medium-bodied with incredible drive and persistence, all kept on track with fresh sea ozone and saline notes. Focused and direct, the wine has depth and length with dried fruits and a touch of peach. No fat here, complex.

Outstanding, though bettered by the 2018 enjoyed last week. I prefer this style to many other CdP whites as it has less bright sweet melon fruit. Complex with a beautiful mouthfeel.

Perhaps great things will happen to the 2015 Trévallon Blanc with time, but I tried to like it and failed. Though I followed an open bottle over the course of a week, it remained fat and alcoholic in profile, but without any particularly interesting characteristics to compensate. It could just be in a dumb phase, but I'd stick to Trévallon's red incarnation in 2015 myself.

Pretty serious wine here. Mostly Marsanne/Roussanne and a few other local varieties, plus a dollop of Chardonnay apparently. Very much up my street this thing. Big, heady, voluptuous nose of peaches, baked apples and caramelised fruits, balanced against spicier notes of cinnamon, even cloves. Powerful, fragrant, shamelessly assertive and full-bodied. I think the slightly bitter, almondy, saline finish is not for some, but I like this sort of thing a lot. I can see long life in this wine, and a really attractive evolution as well. It's got all the ingredients for long ageing and an exciting future of increasing complexity and pleasure-giving properties. Superduper lipsmacking stuff.
