Honey, pineapple, melon, spice and mineral notes on the nose. Medium bodied with layer upon layer of complexity and nuance with only a light, overt sweetness. Fruit notes included white and yellow peach, white pineapple, some additional white orchard fruit notes, some tropical hints and then citrus as well as more obviously tart citrus and acidity through the backside. Perhaps a little lighter than I was expecting, but the fruit showed excellent definition, complexity was impressive and generally felt like this wine was just starting to show off the heights it could reach. Clearly worth holding a bit longer because given where it is today, it's going to be really something in another few years.

JJ Prum - 2015 range tasting: I've never had a single parcel Bernkasteler Lay from JJ Prum before, but what an introduction this was. The nose lifts out of the glass and shows off intense but distinct aromas of pear, lemon, apple, graphite and pineapple. The palate is beautifully layered and the slightly leaner feel compared to the other two Auslese Goldkaps allows the fine detail of every element to be enjoyed. Both delicate and driven, this wine was a superstar amongst a collection of incredible 2015 Riesling.
