  • Ordered from winery during my visit and has been very well cellared. Beautiful Howell Mtn. Cab that I would stack up against the likes of O'shaughnessy or La Jota any day. Way better than Cade. Opened and decanted, then served. Deep, pure fruit that hides the 14.8% ABV, and not a lot of oak present. Drank in small tasting splashes and it improved in the first hour. At the beginning of its drinking window that should last another 10 years. Superior.

  • Big and bold - ripe dark Cherry with touch of Licorice and Cassis. Well balanced with chewy ripe Tannins. Long smooth finish - excellent Bordeaux Cab

  • Decanted 1 hour before being put back into the bottle to take to HMC's for dinner. From that point on opening, it's drinking very well. Deep, hefty weight to the dark mountain berry fruit. Perfectly integrated oak and tannins. It's an easy 93-94 for me to start the evening but after dinner that extra glass rings true at 95 for me, as a little more spice shows up about 4 hours in. As with most '14s these days, this is absolutely singing right now. Don't know if it has any further upside from here as it feels pretty complete where it is tonight, though certainly this is still in the early part of its drinking window. If anyone needs to experience what Howell Mtn berry fruit is like, this is it.

  • For my profile, I think I like Ponente first, followed by Rian, then Levante. Cimarossa is such an under the radar producer on Howell Mtn. The visit alone is worth a trip out!

If I tried this blind, I think I’d say this is valley floor fruit. I followed this over two days and it showed such ripe, fresh squeezed fruit in my glass…the fruit dominated everything (but don’t think that means it was flabby or too sweet). It didn’t show much Howell Mtn bite on the finish or the dark, rustic profile they normally sport. Dark blueberries and blackberries, black currant, mocha, licorice up front with a core of mixed berry pie. I often get a clay and herbal flair with these wines but not here. Primary. I’d hold another few years.
