  • Dinner at Highland. Drank in Grassl Cru.
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of blackberries, black cherries, grilled herbs, smoke, toast wood, dark florals. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, high alcohol (15%), structured high tannins, full body. Pronounced flavour intensity, with flavours of spice, black cherries, blackberries, grilled herbs, smoke, complex black olives, bittersweet coffee-bean. Long structured finish. Gets much smoother on day 2.
Very very good quality. Complex and intense wine. So fresh despite some age already. Will develop well for another 10 years easily.

  • A very interesting wine. This took nearly 90 minutes to fully come around. Traditional Grenache elements up front, but then interesting sour and tangy black cherry elements started to dominate at mid palate. Little Oak. Long finish. Not sure it is worth the price of admission, but still worth tasting this unusual grape.
