  • So....bottle #3.
On nose and palate: roasted almonds, barley sugar, lemon zest, and chalky minerality, with a faint carmelized note, suggesting oxidation setting in....the acidity as a saving grace, is still fresh.....clearly bottle variation.

  • Well....over 2 years ago I said I would never buy this again....I didn't lie...lol...however tonight a dinner guest brought a bottle of this for dinner!
Bottle #1 in 2021 must have been an " off" bottle, because:
On nose: faint notes of minerals, sea salt and tangerine skin.
On palate: all above flavour notes enhanced, with grapefruit zest, blanched almonds, parsnip, fresh thyme, a ghost of quinine, and chalk.
All delivered on a sleek, light- medium body, with vibrant acidity, at nearly 10 years of age....as it warmed up , notes of ginger and dried apricot emerged( not unlike the Poco do Lobo Arinto....but less complex)
Went well with garlic/ lemon Chicken tonight....may buy again after all.

  • A 6 year old Arinto from Portugal.....
On nose: initially a scent of wet bandaid ....after a 1 hour decant, however, notes of apple skin and hazlenut.
On palate: light follow through of above flavours, with clean acidity, faint lemon notes, and minerality on a lean frame......compared to the splendid , and much older Poco do Lobo 1995 , this pales in my eyes.....will not buy again....inoffensive, but bland.
