  • A nice lunch at home with friends (Haarlem): This wine was dedicated to my tasting note 6,000 some months ago.
Completely in line with that experience this bottle was again outrageous.
Everything, absolutely everything in this wine had the right dose and its right place from bouquet to finish. The wood, so gossamer, gave the wine a very noble and classic character. Not power, but sheer persistence, perfect almonds & bitters and long, very long; top white Burgundy.

  • Tasting note 6,000: travelling through space with the common Warp 6 speed of the USS Enterprise NCC-1701, I have encountered during my journey from tasting note 5,001 to 6,000 lots of very interesting wines.
It was a difficult choice, but this wine is absolutely worth tasting note 6,000.
Nearly 18 years old and still a hint of green in the colour, super refined almonds in the bouquet with also a hint of flint. Then comes the taste in which everything is in superbe balance. The backbone is united with the upper taste; too difficult to describe the elements.
Even a whiff of older wood supports the balance. The wine is not pushing but is persistent into the final with again the super elegant almonds supported by gentle tannins and bitters for nearly a minute with every sip I took. This gracefully aging monument made me speechless. I still have one bottle.

  • Tasting note 4,997: Very, very balanced and refined; a lovely whiff of fine wood and vanilla, mild and ripe acidity, smooth, gently dry, ripe tannins; aged without being tired. I still have a bottle.

  • Apple, quince, stone and grapefruit rind on nose. Pear, some brioche, with a lovely bitter/mineral finish. More energy than the Vougeot Blanc from 2002 that I had 2 days ago but very similar in flavors. This has a few more years at least. It tastes and smells fresh and young. No prem-ox here!

  • 11th of 12, pnp, perfect cork and level, previous notes consistently fine or better, still pale, youth, leggy; tending to tropical fruit and honeysuckle, some chalk, nice balancing acidity; medium, very long, persistent and complex, rich for a dry wine, fresh and pure, nice balance for '02, high quality with plenty of life (little changed from my '14 bottle). F+ (18).
