Deepish yellow but not yet to hints of old gold, still quite youthful for age, excellent deep, rich, complex nose, classic buttery aged Chardonnay, lots of nuances, palate also has real depth, complexity of age, certainly at end of optimum drinking window but still holding in there very well, coats whole mouth, good length and persistence, really very good and above its expected standing

Just stunning for a "mere" St. Aubin, rich deep pear fruit bracketed by light toasted oak/hazelnut notes and a stony minerality. As it evolved over dinner (Betsy limited herself to a glass or so as driver, so I had plenty of sips), a rich caramelly note appeared. Despite the richness, there's a lot of acidic verve here. This could probably use more time, but delicious now, and I've decided that with all the random oxidation issues my white Burgundies are all going to die early deaths. This was my last of this, but I wish I could stick a bottle in a lineup of 2002 Pulignys

Sweet pear fruit surrounded by toasty oak (more than I remember in 2001) and minerals. The fruit is full and ripe, but there is acidity that keeps in lively in the mouth. I think this needs a little time for the oak to integrate, but in time will be a nice Burg- could pass for a Puligny now. A bit much for a panko-crusted flounder dish, I should have gone with a Chablis I considered.(I'll try again in 2 years, I worry these days re long aging of white Burgs).

(Clair Francoise et Denis St.Aubin Murguers des Dents de Chien) Already a deep yellow colour. The nose is sweet, a little spicy and slightly dense. The palate reflects the nose in that it's dense and tight, only hinting at an extra layer of compexity. In this phase I'd like a hint more acidty to carry that density along, but it's clean and very tasty. Hopefully it will move onto the next level as it unravels. Good.
