Pop and pour. Purchased off the list (lunch) at the Wolf restaurant in Oakland. The restaurant opened within the last two months and we have been meaning to give it a go. It exceeded our expectations but also was not what I expected. As they are next door to Commis, Oakland's only two star Michelin restaurant, I thought they may try to compete but I was wrong. It's just a bit nicer than their sister restaurant, Wood Tavern, but the noise level is much lower. Food is top notch but would only garner a Bib Gourmand mention.
The wine is clean, simple, nothing fancy, with sour citrus and crisp acidity plus some earthiness on the entry that dissipates after about 30 minutes. Easy drinking with a flat iron steak and French fries. Good.
