  • Popped and poured over around 3 hours. This was very dark fruited, blackberry and cassis dominate with some vanilla. The vanilla was more pronounced for the first 30 minutes but fades into the background. Very fruit forward with a slightly tense but lush mouthfeel. Low tannin and acid, but with all of the fruit seems still have a lot of life left in it. Long finish, this was nice.

  • Last bottle of the '12. Notes are the same the last bottle. Wonderful fruit with enough weight to pair well with a steak. Again, clearly identifiable as Howell Mountain, which is a characteristic I love.

I feel like this one has probably peaked. Very nice. This is a great wine to have around. Really enjoyable. It's accessible enough that it could be the gateway to get a non red wine drinker hooked. So share with such friends carefully, or risk them showing up unannounced for another sip.

  • This is the 3rd bottle we've had of this wine over the last couple of years.

It is consistently very, very good and is really drinking quite well right now. The nose is of lush fruit. The taste matches and is clearly identifiable as Howell Mountain.
What more needs to be said, really? Enjoy!

  • Had after a 2006 Barolo and 2002 groth. Candied fruit, butterscotch on the nose. Would drink again. Luckily shared by a friend!
