Another wine science tasting, this one from 2013, at a gathering and found this. The aromas were something else, mulch, perfume, a hint of black fruits, and more mulch. Flavours were flat with mulch, and fleeting cranberry. Yep, this is done for, there was a slight hint of bricking.

I seem to enjoy each new bottle more than the previous. This one had a fruity liveliness on entry reminiscent of good Loire Cabfranc combined with deeper roundness and some typically Fronton notes of rubber and tar. Good.

I must have marked down the last bottle because of its proximity to the more characterful Folle Noire d'Ambat. On its own it was very enjoyable with medium+ body, round red and dark fruit, earthy minerals, a typical rubbery hint and fair acidity. Good.

This followed on the remainder of a two day opened bottle of Folle Noire d'Ambat and, though pleasant, was much inferior in graciousness of fruit, complexity and Fronton typicity. Quite good.

Cherry, currant, earth, dried herb, and tar nose. Med bodied; well balanced and structured; long, complex finish. Like a good, Bordeaux petit Chateau. 3.5/5
