  • Slight browning, a ton of sediment, but still delicious. A bit heavy and dark, yet very enjoyable with a corn on the cob dinner. Lots of flavor left.

  • Disjointed upon opening, this blossomed into a stunning wine. If someone told me this was a '97 Leoville-Las-Cases, I might believe it.

A dead ringer for a higher end Bordeaux. Firm structure but loads of complexity with red and dark berry, cinnamon, cigar box. Quite savory with a very long finish. Excellent.

  • It's a mature wine after 23 years of aging. The nose was highly complicated, consisting cigar box, leather, game, herbs, blackberry, earth. It's obviously cabernet sauvignon based. The tannin was still firm and solid. Very rigid and muscular structure. Deep and intense cherry, blackberry, blackcurrant flavour. Classic Italian rustic style.

  • Pop and pour. This is definitely on a downward path. Eucalyptus on the nose; roasted red fruit, rose petal, earth, and cigar tobacco on the palate, with good acidity and a medium finish. There is quite a bit of sediment -- decanting is recommended. Although the fruit is disappearing, the acid hasn't taken over yet, and the tertiary flavors have a beauty of their own. I won't be buying any more of this, but while it lasted it was very good.

  • Strawberry on the nose, with possibly a touch of honey. The fill on this was at the bottom of the neck and the color was noticeably bricking, so some air may have gotten in, although the cork was sound. On the palate, noticeable secondary earthy flavors combined with sour cherry and anise. This was not flawed, but it was showing its age much more than previous bottles. It's probably time to finish these up.
