Dark, opaque purple. A nose of tarry oak, with cherryish fruit somewhere in the background. Decent acidity, a somewhat disjointed structure (not much tannin, but what there is is fairly rough.) Fairly short. At this first tasting all I can say is that this Italian Tempranillo is an interesting novelty, but nowhere near as attractive as many Riojas I've had. 13.5%, cork.

Vin Chicago Pre-Holiday Tasting and Sale (Vin Chicago - Chicago IL): Walk around tasting. Old vine Tempranillo in Tuscany?!? Very good concentration, particularly at its start, then softer and less powerful towards it medium long finish. Good now, maybe some upside?
