  • Sadly this bottle didn't meet expectations. Great on the nose, but flat on the palate.

  • Almost opaque center, blood red gradient to ever-so-slightly purple rim.
Absolutely heavenly on the nose--I could sniff it all day without drinking it if I could. Vibrant cherry backed with just enough oak to give it character. I can almost feel the endorphins firing as I take it in.
Sweet, smooth fruit up front with black cherry and strawberry dominating. Characteristic pepper develops mid-palate. Mild oak and tannin round out the back end with a perfect balance. I expected Smith Ranch to be a little bolder than I like, but it's amazingly delicate.
Couldn't ask for a better finish: long, warm, and flavorful. The cherry persists well after the last bit of a liquid is down. No unsavory grit or grip.
These single vineyards are truly worth their tag.
