  • PnP and followed for a few hours. Improved over an hour. Focused red cherry, plum, dusty earth, clay, smoke, herbs, a little graphite, and minerals on the nose. Soo earthy. Tart cherries, red cherries, tart plum, herbs, earth, and minerals on the palate. Mouthwatering acidity, fine tannins, long earthy finish. Wow, so delicious. The description doesn't show it, but this bottle has so much flavor and earthiness -- I couldn't put it down. 94-95

  • Tasted after 90 minutes of air. Crunch raspberry fruit. Medium garnet color with some bricking. Even after 8 years this wine is in need of some air to open and show its stuff. Too often I think these older wines don't need as much air as newer wines. Not true. This wine was dead for the first 30 minutes and is only now starting to come around after 90 minutes. Was reading Marcus Goodfellow's posts on Wine Berserkers and he was saying the same thing. Light floral on the nose. Firm acidity. Nice lift. Medium plus finish.

  • Maybe I had a bad last bottle (or was in a different headspace) because this one is WAY better.

Nose: dirt/dust, dried mushrooms, hint of a green note like fresh asparagus (none of this is really sous bois but more like aged / dried version).

Palate: clean cherry/strawberry, dark chocolate, more earthiness.

  • Very muted; maybe in a sleep phase. Even finished a bit hot.

Compared to a Illhae vineyard bottle from the same vintage, it massively underperformed.

So hold if you have them.

  • Similar TN to recent posts, just slightly flat and a bit short w/o food, but fared better on Day 2. Silky and RTD now, wouldn't expect it to improve much out to 2028.
