  • Drank on New Year's Eve and it was a perfect choice. Has a very light fizz and just a hint of sweetness. Very well balanced with plenty of whiter flowers and honeysuckle on the nose and both in mouth as well plus tropical fruit. A yummy way to start the year!

  • This is really rather good. Fragrant, floral, complex. It's a dry wine but under its skin you can taste the sweet skeleton of the moscatel grapes. There's a lot going on here. Candy and pineapple and apple and mango. Some jasmine and honey too. Tastes like moorland smells.

I drank it with a fierce curry. Normally I'd not drink wine with curry but this cut through the heat with aplomb. It's not unlike a sorbet in its fresh fruity ability to zing the palate.

This wine was cited as a top three white in the world under 20 euros by Parker, whose comments can be found here, in Spanish,

    http://www.malagaenlamesa.com/noticias/201612/27/vino-malagueno-botani-elegido-20161227191744.html

    .. which in part says…

“In his tasting, Parker said of Botani 2015 that it had ‘an incredibly beautiful bouquet, reason enough to consume this medium-bodied, super fragrant and seductive wine with a crunchy touch.’ …. The 2015 vintage, which Parker puts among the best three in 2016 below 20 euros… is the best perfumed white in the world.”

Of course ‘best in the world’ is mostly excitable hype. But this is indeed a very good wine.

I picked up a case for 11.50 a bottle near Malaga, where the wine is made. That's a very good QPR but of course the further this wine travels from Malaga the pricier it's going to get.
