We really liked this! it was open right away with a nose of burning embers, tobacco, barnyard, and rich dark fruit (blackberry, blueberry). Big, plump, and suave in the mouth. It's not super-duper complex (but not terribly simple either), more in the hedonistic realm, showcasing a blend of dark and red fruits, leather, cocoa, and a hint of roasted coffee. Not as gamey as I'd expect (and want) in a Syrah, but it certainly delivered for us. With 4-5 hours of air, red fruit flavors (raspberry) came to dominate (on the nose and palate), rendering it an almost completely different wine from the moment we opened it.

Opened 30 minutes before tasting. Inky purple color. Nose of plum, sous bois. Just a little tight on the palate, but drinkable, tart cherry, spicy black plum, leather, runs hot. Long finish, moderate tannins. Totally respectable Italian take on Syrah, but it's got nothing on its Sangiovese cousins from the same maker, including those a notch or two down in price. Could use a year or two to cellar.
