Holding back for a couple of years has paid off. The Syrah (20%) element dominates the flavour profile with ripe dark hedge fruit, the Cab Sauv (60%) provides structure and the Merlot (20%) I haven't a clue!! Lots of smoke, dry spice and liquorice nuances and firm integrated tannins. Perfect acidity. Very fine indeed. Good now and for another 5yrs or so. 91?+

Has closed down somewhat since my first note last autumn. Very good indeed as it stands, with the Merlot element particularly to the fore with its ripe cooked plummy fruit. Grainy tannins and hints of spice and florals suggest secondary flavours yet to emerge. Earth and good acidity. If a tad one dimensional at the moment I have high hopes of this wine hitting the excellent level given more time in my cellar. Hold till 2021 at least - and with this structure would expect a plateau of 15yrs+ from vintage. 89+?+

"A taste of Libanon"-Tasting, Flight 4, Wine 1 (non-blind): Often called "The world's most dangerous wine.", an allusion to its provenance. The wine was medium to dark ruby in colour and showed reduction and some funk on the nose which blew off with some aeration and made room for dark fruit and spice aromas. On the palate, the wine showed good fruit, spices and herbal notes on the attack, but did not have any middle or end. A cliff wine…

My last of this vintage but have a case the '14 in my cellar to look forward to.
Should be fine for another 3yrs or so.
